Iceland is described as an isle country. It is found in the North Atlantic Ocean under the Arctic Circle. Iceland is also calledLand of Ice and Fire because of the large glaciers that lie next to geysers, volcanoes and steaming hot springs. The capital of Iceland is Reykjavik and their official language is Icelandic. Their estimated population is about 270,000 as of 1998 and has a density of 2 people per square meter. Icelands goods come mainly from processing, agriculture and fishing, these goods comprise livestock hay, sheep, cod, herring, aluminum, garments cement and electrical equipments. This isle country is considered as the worlds most active volcano spot and has the worlds cleanest capital, Europes largest waterfalls, and the people with the longest lives. Iceland is a home for more than 50 galleries, museums, symphony ensemble, two full-time theater corporation and more than a hundred gourmet restaurants.

over a thousand years ago, Iceland was settled mainly by people from Norway and by Viking colonies approaching from the British Isles. Most settlers had Celtic slaves and arrive married Celtic people. As of today, Icelanders look like the people of Ireland, Northern Norway and Northern Scotland. Young Icelanders in bigger towns are clad much like to the other people who live in Western countries. Icelanders adore sports particularly swimming together with handball, basketball, soccer, skiing and glima which is a type of brawling.
Nearly all Icelanders go to the state cathedral which is the Lutheran and Evangelical cathedral.

Regarding the Icelanders schooling, their government obliges children choosing from seven to fifteen years old to go to school except from those who are in scarcely inhabited parts. kids in rural area ride buses or go to boarding schools. For some remote parts, teachers are the ones travelling from one farm to another and wait for a couple of weeks in the vicinity to teach the children living there. After primary and general secondary schools, children may enter in a grammar school for 4 years where they learn 5 foreign languages at the least.

There are only few natural resources that Iceland depends on and about one percent of land can be used for farming purposes although the countrys coastal waters is very abundant in fish. Their sale of fish and other fish products is where Iceland depends. The citizens want money in order to purchase raw supplies, fruits, vegetables, machines and heavy equipments from other states. It mainly trades with Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain and USA. Nearly 1/5 of the working class in Iceland is employed in fish-processing vegetation or grab fish for a living. The most common fishes caught are cod, capelin, herring and haddock. Fish processing is considered as the most important business in Iceland. Small-processing vegetation are usually found standing alongside coasts and other big freezing vegetation as well. Most of the fishes are salted, dried or frozen and ready for export.
